Painting guide

Customise the legendary warriors from the miniatures game’s latest starter set by following our step-by-step guide – including some alternate colour schemes to truly make them yo ur own

Games Workshop has knocked it out of the park once again with its latest Warhammer starter box, Soul Wars, bursting at the seams with amazing miniatures. this month we’ll take a look at a few different ways to paint the Stormcast Eternals warriors found in the set.

These are some of the most gorgeous models on the market. I’m not talking aesthetics – you may love or hate how the models look – but the quality. The amount of detail is incredible, and they’re sculpted in such a way that’s clear and crisp, such as small sigmarite symbols hidden all over the models.

There may be a few doubles in the box, but each model has a beautifully dynamic pose, really cementing those action moments and heroic stances. All in all it’s hard to pick up a rank-and- file feel from any of the Stormcasts – they really do feel like every single one is a hero in their own right, which would be amazing for any set, but for a snap-fit starter it’s just jaw-dropping.

This guide will take a look at how to paint using the traditional Hammers of Sigmar colour scheme, but we’ll also be looking at a few of the alternative Stormhosts, and how easy it is to reappropriate paint schemes to create your own colour scheme.
