INTO THE GRAVE

IN THIS MONTH’S SERVING OF DELICIOUS DEATH METAL, WE BRING YOU THE RETURN OF TECH-DEATH LEGENDS INTERNAL SUFFERING, ROGGA JOHANSSON’S FURIOUS RIBSPREADER AND SWEDISH BEHEMOTHS VANHELGD

‘Hectic’ doesn’t even to begin to describe what Internal Suffering sound like: you haven’t heard a brutal death metal band trying to squeeze in as much words and magical references since the very first Kataklysm album (back when they were still praying to the Ancient Ones), their lengthy songtitles only adding to their overall mystique (How about ‘Unleash The Antarctic Colossus (Prevail In The Universe With Crowning Might… Kadath Is The Vortex!’ on the new album?). Originally from Colombia, they had relocated to the US in the mid-’00s to be closer to where the action is, but after four albums released in between 1999 and 2006, they disappeared off the face of the earth. Thankfully, after a decade long break away from the studio, they’re now back with a new line-up, a new location and a new album (‘Cyclonic Void Of Power’ on Unique Leader) and with their grinding power intact. “We were on hold from 2007 through 2011 for personal and professional reasons,” explains their bass player Andrés Garcia. “We returned to the scene in autumn 2011 when we got together here in Spain, where we ended up because our front man and drummer lived here by the time we decided to reform. I got an opportunity to come to study in a Spanish university so all the pieces fell into place. All we had to do was find a suitable guitar player and start practicing.”

About Terrorizer Magazine

Devin Townsend: it’s a name synonymous with heavy and extreme metal, and also a name associated with the occasional foray into acoustic and country albums, not to mention albums featuring coffee loving puppets! And of course, who could forget his very own dedication to this here mag he created a few years ago with his mighty ‘Terrorizer’ song – only Onslaught had ever done a homage to a metal mag before this, if memory serves me correctly. There’s something for everyone, which is something rare in many musician’s repertoires. Devin’s enjoyed and created a rather unique musical path and 25 albums in, it’s awesome to see that this month, there are no signs of him letting up. Read all about what he’s been up to over the past few years and how he’s feeling about life in our cover story. Elsewhere this issue is jam packed with a delectable array of quality bands including plenty of UK bands – Akercocke, The Wounded Kings, Slomatics, Coltsblood, and Iron Witch – and plenty of worldwide ones too. Extreme music, no boundaries! See you next month. Darren Sadler
