The Lady  |  6th January 2017
Dear Readers,
Did you know that it apparently takes 37 minutes to run off the excess calories from one mince pie – and that isn’t even the all-butter pastry ones. By the end of Christmas, I was certainly up to a mince pie addiction that would have taken three and a half hours to work off if I had been bothered, which, given the amount my waistband has expanded, I wasn’t. However, the New Year brings (I hope) a New Me and perhaps a New
You. I don’t want to become evangelical but I suspect that most of us could do with raising the heart rate a little, and our resident health and fitness expert, Diana Moran, has some genius suggestions that she
stresses are both painless and elegant.
The latter, of course, is something we all strive for and which
our cover star, the beautiful French actress Marion Cotillard, has
achieved effortlessly. But being chic and stylish isn’t just about
being young, nor is it about being wrinkle-free. As this year’s
remarkable Pirelli calendar shows us, it is possible to be beautiful
and silver-haired. I’ll raise a (detox juice) glass to that…
Until next week, best wishes
Sam Taylor,
