WRITTEN BY JORDI PINTO
When Jascha Heifetz visited Barcelona for the third time in April 1932 for a recital, a violinist who was very active in the city approached him afterwards and asked him to autograph a portrait. Heifetz not only did that, but also wrote his name on the back of the musician’s violin after playing on it, as an extra souvenir of the evening. The violin was made by Ignacio Fleta in the early 1930s and was kept in the violinist’s family collection until the end of the 20th century, when the instrument passed to another owner.
