Issue Cover

Total FlyFisher  |  November 2012

Total FlyFisher’s November issue is packed with full-on fly fishing action. We’ve the UK’s top anglers, the new latest and greatest fly patterns and the ultimate in fish-catching techniques to ensure you stay ahead of the game.
The latest craze sweeping the fly fishing world is tenkara. Never heard of it? Read our guide by the country’s top aficionados, John Pearson and Paul Gaskell. There’s nothing these guys don’t know about this ancient Japanese way of extracting trout from small rivers.
Sinking lines play a huge part in stillwater fishing but the relatively new Sweep lines from Airflo are becoming firm favourites, allowing you to fish your flies effectively through all manner of depths. Cliff Waters and Paul Shaw give you the lowdown on these amazing fly lines.
One of the most productive fishing spots on any water is the dam wall. TFF’s hit list of all the things you need to know will ensure you succeed on your fishery’s top hotspot!
There’s still plenty of time for dry-fly action, as Simon Robinsons shows on Derwent Reservoir. Even in flat-calm conditions, as long as your approach is correct, the fish can be taken with regularity. They don’t have to be rising for you to catch them!
Top Welsh angler Russell Owen reveals his deadly Cow Dung fly patterns and puts them to great effective on a rather moody Llyn Clywedog.
Water depths vary enormously on many waters, so Hardy & Greys’ Andy Taylor shows you how to tackle the deeps and the shallows – everything’s covered, from deep-water buzzer fishing to Spiders fished sub-surface.
We also have also a host of new and time-served flies for you to tie, tackle reviews, competitions and reader’s catch shots.
Tight lines!

Could Be Better Reviewed Saturday, 9 March 2013
The magazine is about the best out there, I like wild fishing and for me there's too heavy a focus on stocked waters and bright bushy flies but they do feature wild waters, natural flies, coarse fish on the fly and the occasional salt water fly fishing spread, I've even seen some tenkara articles.

I really wish the mag would move away from the stockie bashing and feature more wild fishing. Being the best of a bad bunch isn't much to shout about but there you go!

Full of amazing shots, nteresting articles and always manages to teach me something every month with expert fly-tying.
