Cat Burton – A Life Lived Authentically

Have you ever woken up and felt, just, right? I have, but only for the last five years.
Jody Lynn makeover before driving across london to dinner party

I should have known who I was at 14. Exploring identity and sexuality with a school friend, when we should have been doing homework together, we both dressed as girls, alternately. We told ourselves it was, “Just to practice chat up techniques,” but it went far deeper for us both. My friend looked good but I looked like a rugby playing schoolboy in a frock.

He went on to realise he was gay, and to a successful career as a doctor, becoming prominent in London during the AIDS epidemic. I, on the other hand, mistook my own feelings after the incident. I was horrified by my look, so that, was obviously out. I buried it in a box at the back of my brain, marked ‘do not open’ and, instead, recognised that I was attracted to my friend, in his female guise. I thought that was me. It began a lifelong preference for the company of transgender women that lasted well into my 50s.

As with most trans people in denial (for that was what the box was) I adopted many layers of camouflage. I had a very strong beard for most of my life. I went into an all-male profession, but more of that in a while. I had a drive to excel at everything. I became a SCUBA diving Instructor Trainer and the National Chairman of the Sub Aqua Association.

About Transliving Magazine

Well, what can I say: I thought the last issue of Transliving was our biggest photo edition ever, but somehow I think this issue has exceeded that! This Issue features Vesna from Prague on the cover. Some of you may have worked it out already but Vesna also appeared on the cover of our 50th issue back in 2015 - which is still available if you would like to see more of her and perhaps don't have that particular issue. For those of you into Pony Play, we have an extensive photo feature and article from Nina Jay in her regular World of Kink column. We have some fun themed photoshoots such as French Maids, Dangerous Dollies and Retro Fashion. USA regular columnist Nora Simone reports on being a Transwoman Model for the day. We also have a special feature on how to care for your makeup and so much more..... You’ll also, of course, find plenty of other articles to keep you up-to-date on issues affecting the gender diverse and trans community with hard-hitting comment and opinion as well as readers' contact ads and extensive scene guide keeping you up to date with what's going on and coming up on the trans calendar. Dive into your new Transliving now and join us on the celebration of Gender Diversity. Want to be featured in our next issue? Email shane@transliving.org.uk
