After the recent troubles in London, it was with a little apprehension that I accepted an invite from Tesco to be part of their team in the London Pride parade.
I needn’t have worried. It seemed like the whole of the population had turned out to watch or take part in a show of solidarity. There were over 300 floats and 26,000 people in the parade itself, and over 1,000,000 lining the streets to cheer us on. The atmosphere was one of love and acceptance; it was so powerful you could almost hold it in your hands.
Every race, creed, colour, gender, and age were represented, and all were totally at ease with each other. All the usual prejudices were set aside for the day, making it the best Pride event yet.
