I’ve been fortunate enough to have been to most of these events; from the very first one when I was taking my first tentative steps in the world of transgender, up to the current one, when I have been happily living as Jenny for 10 years.
The event is one of many that has helped me - and I have no doubt - many others, to find our way in the Transworld, through being able to dress and socialise with other Trans-people, gain a better understanding of our own situation, experiment with makeup and clothing (not always appropriate for our age), and gain confidence in the ‘real world’. In this, I think the nearby Meadowhall shopping Mall has to be credited for coping with an influx of Trans-people for that one weekend a year for the last 25 years, and I’ve suspected on more than one occasion that the local newspaper must have been broadcasting a ‘Tranny alert’ for that weekend - although in fact there have been no real problems with anyone visiting there, despite to my knowledge several Trans getting ‘read’.
