“Mana Pools’ elephants are magnificent. Once, while we were canoeing, a family group crossed the Zambezi just a few metres away from us, snorkelling with their trunks. At last they reached the shallows and the water fell away from their huge, wet bodies, leaving their skin as dark and glossy as varnished wood. Watching them from the river was simply wonderful.”
