Wild dogs in Mozambique
JAMES BYRNE
The Endangered Wildlife Trust, a champion of conservation in Africa, has reintroduced ‘painted wolves’ to Mozambique. With only 6600 wild dogs left in Africa, this iconic species is one of the continent’s most at-risk carnivores. The new pack was moved to Gorongosa National Park by air transfer, where they are currently being held in an enclosure for eight weeks in order to acclimatise to their new surroundings.
