PEACEFUL TRANSITION
Natural Selection’s Lekkerwater Beach Lodge has opened its doors, overlooking a six-kilometre stretch of beach in De Hoop Nature Reserve, three hour’s drive from Cape Town. In a Marine Protected Area, Lekkerwater is as ‘clean and green’ as possible, using renewable energy and a zero single-use-plastic policy. De Hoop offers excellent land-based whale watching from July to November and at Klipdrift cave there is evidence of human presence dating back between 64,000 and 100,000 years. But Lekkerwater has recent historical signi.icance, as it was the retreat used by former President FW de Klerk, enjoying the solitude here when deliberating the transition from apartheid.
