You know you’re in Plateau State because of the changes in the window shopping as you drive north-east from Abuja. In Plateau’s neighbouring Kaduna State, you see groundnuts, green oranges and bananas.
If you stop the car not too many miles later, but a lot higher, in Plateau, it’s huge bunches of carrots, wet green cabbages and takeaway cartons of strawberries.
