The Umoja Journey through Africa is tag-lined ‘Adventure with Purpose’ for a good reason. The ‘Purpose’ element saw us call on 11 International Needs (IN) projects; the ‘Adventure’ part led us to enjoy an amazing journey across Africa. I was attracted to the notion that we would be given the opportunity to make a difference while embracing the spectacular scenery, cultures and wildlife of Africa.
Our trip began with a visit to the Lighthouse Ministries, a rehabilitation programme in Limuru, Kenya, where they train youth and children workers to recognise those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and reintegrate them into the community.
