True Detective  |  True Detective October 2019
By chance this month’s True Detective spotlights not one but two notable cases that took place on the Channel Island of Jersey. The first concerns the man they came to call “The Beast Of Jersey.” His was a reign of terror that began as far back as 1957 and continued into the 1970s, in the course of which he attacked and raped a succession of victims who will never forget his cruelty – or the bizarre mask he used to terrorise them. Another long-term operator is Felix Vail, recently identified as “America’s Oldest Serial Killer.” He is now revealed to have killed three partners in the period from 1962 to 1984, and he may yet have further crimes to come to light. See this issue for a full report.
