So, another year passes and the festive season is upon us once again!

With the days here in the UK at their shortest around now, I often find that my reef becomes more of a focal point in our house at this time of year. The bright light and vivid colours really seem to keep those ‘winter blues’ away, indeed I often wonder if reef-keepers are perhaps less prone to SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) given their exposure to white/blue lighting. Hey, maybe there’s even another unseen health benefit to reef-keeping there!

As well as brightening up the dull days of winter, the Christmas Holidays (if you are lucky enough to get any) are also a great time to enjoy your tank, and of course the big day itself offers a guilt-free opportunity to acquire some new ‘toys’. Actually, if you are after ideas for a few stocking-fillers (or maybe something so massive it will need to be hidden under a blanket), take a look at our special extended report on the recent Aqua2015 trade show this issue. Our ‘sneak peak’ of the latest new products should have something to interest everyone.

Beyond this we’ve got our usual useful line-out of news, information and eye-candy. Regarding the latter, just look at the two fantastic reef systems we are featuring this month.

From all of the team here at UltraMarine Magazine, we sincerely hope you enjoy this issue, and of course… “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
