Natalie Savona reveals how getting out the juicer can help your skin to look great

It’s said that beauty comes from within. Bright eyes and a clear glowing skin are signs that the body’s systems are working well, but good nutrition can also help slow the external signs of ageing.

Free radicals are a buzz word in health and beauty circles. Naturally formed in the body, when they are produced in excess – because of pollutants entering the body – they can cause many diseases and contribute to the signs of ageing. Antioxidants and phytonutrients help destroy the free radicals that age the skin and cause premature wrinkles, as does ellagic acid, which is found in high levels in strawberries and raspberries.

Carotene and vitamins C, E and A are also very eff ective in keeping the skin soft, clear and elastic. Vitamin A, found in watermelon, melons and mango, encourages healthy skin cell production. Vitamin E, in watercress and tomatoes, protects skin from cell damage and supports healthy skin growth. Vitamin C, found in highest amounts in citrus fruits, mangoes and berries, is important for helping to heal blemishes and produce collagen.
