My vegan life Vic Wood

From activism with Sea Shepherd and saving marine life to running Greener Beauty, Vic is one busy vegan…

INTERVIEW

I’ve always loved the ocean and that’s where my journey to veganism began. I learnt to scuba dive in 2010 and was immediately hooked, spending all my holidays travelling to immerse myself in mesmerising underwater bustling cities where the sky scrappers were coral and the traffic was marine life! On one particular trip to Egypt I downloaded some documentaries to watch on the flight. Little did I know how this would change my life. I watched The Cove, which documents the dolphin slaughter that happens daily for six months every year in Taiji, Japan. I was broken. Sitting on the plane in tears and incredulous, I could not believe what I was seeing. At this point I had seen Whale Wars on Animal Planet and was aware of Sea Shepherd and what they did. but I had never heard of Taiji and its horrors. I had to do something, anything I could to help stop this slaughter. On my return I joined Sea Shepherd UK as an onshore volunteer.
