In 1978, Seattle Slew was a four-year old colt coming off a season for the ages, having run to a Triple Crown championship under the guidance of jockey Jean Cruguet. He was the first thoroughbred who was undefeated heading in the Belmont Stakes, the final jewel in the Triple Crown title.
