STILL EXPANDING: ROTAX ANNOUNCES: ROTAX ANNOUNCES J3 COMPETITION AND RTX USA GROUP AS ITS US DISTRIBUTOR

Effective immediately, J3 Competition and RTX USA Group will take over managing the north and south regions respectively, working in alliance to service and develop the Rotax customer base, while building the participation of the Rotax MAX Challenge race series throughout the U.S.A. «During the last months we have investigated a lot in the U.S. market needs. It is therefore gratifying to announce our two new distributors for the USA karting business; J3 Competition who is taking over the northern territory and RTX USA Group the Southern Federal States. With these two partners on board we are confident to move forward in a very positive direction to support our U.S. customers as well as to improve the sales and service structure» says Peter Oelsinger, vice-president Rotax Propulsion Systems and Finance.

“We would like to thank SRA Karting, our distributor for Canada, who had taken over the U.S. market on an interim basis, for their efforts in the last 14 months. During the phase-out period until the end of the karting season, SRA Karting will provide its assistance to the new distributors. Furthermore they will support the US Grand Nationals / US Open in New Jersey in July as initially planned,” added Peter Oelsinger.

TALKING TO
At the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship in Germany, we spoke with Kees van de Grint, CIK Vice-President. He unveiled some important background news on the homologated Minikart and took stock of the homologation of Original Kart. Furthermore, the return of Ampfing and Salbris to the CIK calendar allowed us to shed light on the methods of selection of circuits and on the direction chosen by the Commission, which will guarantee more varied calendars in the future.

After the great success in Sarno and the setback at PFI, Paul Aron is back on top at Ampfing. The Estonian, once again fully on, left nothing to the however fierce competition, failing to “scare” on Friday and Saturday. A deserved victory, born of sports intelligence, now matured by the leader in the general standings. A single lap it took to get rid of rivals and then off to the checkered flag. Completing the podium were Luca Griggs and Gabriel Bortoleto, worthy rivals of the final. Things get complicated for Gabriele Minì, betrayed by a technical problem just a few laps from the finish line while fighting for third place.

DR Racing has already been developing and distributing the 125 KZ Modena Engines for a year and a half now. To evaluate the progress made during this period and the prospects for this increasingly interesting powertrain, we met Danilo Rossi and his staff.
Some images of the old sump casing configuration, with the partial black finish, compared to DR Racing’s most recent work, with the unpainted finish. Notice the different profile in the area of the porting bags and the different opening of the crank chamber, wider and rounder.

VINTAGE
At the beginning of 1960 Jim Yamane was synonymous with karting activities the world over. At that time the young Japanese-American from North Hollywood California was the topic of conversation by fellow competitors and karting enthusiasts following his victory at the Nassau World Championship kart race held December 5th and 6th 1959 in the Bahamas.
