Evolution of the species

The TM KZR1 engine is an evolution of the previous KZ10C, of which it has taken over the best elements, combining them with new innovative technical solutions to improve performance and overall efficiency. We decided to show it “without veils”, comparing it with the previous model.

In a sport like karting you cannot apply the principle “you don’t change a winning team”, given the rapidity with which things evolve. Better to say “whoever stops is lost”, even in the position of dominator of the market that TM Racing has been capable of conquering in recent years in the gearbox categories. To discover all the technical and functional innovations introduced on this new unit approved for the three-year period (2019-2021) we decided to go to the workshop of Franco Galiffa to be able to take it apart and analyze in detail, analyzing the differences between this and its legendary predecessor KZ10C.

When putting hands on the design of a new engine, the technicians make a series of choices to understand what to keep and what to improve. Rarely does one throw everything aside to start from scratch. The choice of the research and development department of TM Racing was, of course, to use what was already good in the KZ10C and to improve what could still be improved.
