ANTHONY ABBASSE

The French driver Anthony Abbasse wins a significant victory at the Winter Cup in Lonato and confirms himself to be the strongest antagonist in the international KZ event.

A season of transition for the Frenchman involved in the fight at the top of the international kermesse: for two years in a row he fought for the title of World Champion. After the first official commitment, the time for redemption seems to have come to the French driver, the symbolic face of the Sodi kart rebirth, ready to battle again for FIA -branded results of import. The Winter Cup marked his return onto the highest step of the podium after 9 years since the last victory in Lonato. An important element that points the headlights also on the next races. Abbasse was the author of a virtually perfect inal where he was able to remain in the melee with De Conto, Ardigò and Pollini until the final blow against the eternal rival of CRG. Abbasse can be said to be satisfied with the good starting point. With due care and the resolution of technical problems that, too often, have penalized the French company, 2019 could be their year. «It was a nice feeling to return to victory at this level among the two best drivers in the world, Marco (Ardigò) and Paolo (De Conto)», Antony conides to us immediately after the award ceremony. «It’s always nice to win here in Lonato. My last victory here dates back to 2010 during the WSK Euro Series. As I said, the level is very high. I’m never sure I can win. Me and my team do our best to get to the top. Every race is different, so we’ll see. In KZ we are all very close. Currently, 15 drivers can win. That’s why everyone must be perfect. It is normal that you always see the same drivers in front but I find that every driver of this category has important qualities in every moment of the race».
