Duty Calls

At the beginning of the 70s a traditionally 125 builder like Antonio Bosio made a class 100 model to support a new promotional category. Leonardo Garatti has restored one.

The first decade of the new millennium had not yet ended and the interest in historical karts was starting to move. We are in 2009, when fans of the genre had not yet organized and therefore the discovery of a vintage kart was still a very occasional fact. So in searching the pages of Subito, an Ebay of sorts, on the computer, Leonardo Garatti doesn’t know what to think when he sees a red and yellow kart that apparently (but also in construction details) looks like a Tony Kart. The doubt comes from the fact that the Brescia-based manufacturer is traditionally dedicated to the 125 gearbox class, and only in the so-called “Robazzi era” did it pay more attention to singlespeed classes.

Through Vroom I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks to the following for their help in this restoration: Gianbattista Fantini for technical assistance; Geppy Proni and Gabriele Gorini for “100 cc” consulting; Claudio Melandri for finding the exhaust system; and above all the unforgettable friend Antonio “Tony Kart” Bosio.
