We were invited to try out the new Birel Art electric karts on the track, proof of how our world is also aligning itself with the trend towards zero emissions: primarily designed for the Rental world, we cannot yet foresee what developments we will find in the Racing sector. The vehicles and the performances reached are top level, a sign there is a considerable potential for growth - even if we are only at the beginning of a path that will take time.

Supplying the engines to Birel is a start-up from Silicon Valley, which in just 13 years has been able to become one of the global protagonists of the electric revolution: Zero Motorcycles. The engine that equips the Birel Art E-Kart is a close relative, through the development made by the Dutch Be Karting (partner of Birel Art for the electric kart) of those that make the motorcycles of Zero Motorcycles more powerful than any 1000cc supersport in the motorcycle sector - which is an impressive comparison, indeed.

In karting, the performance comparison is no different. The engine, called FXS 75-5, is able to develop a maximum torque of 57 Nm while the maximum power is 27 hp (20 kW) at 3700 rpm and is mounted on the classic N35 frames made with 35mm x 2 mm tubes.
