Thanks to an amazing Ardigò, Tony Kart / Vortex standard-bearer, and the CRG duo - Pex powered by Tm and De Conto powered by Maxter - we witnessed a heartstopping last lap … with palpitations that steeply rose and put our coronaries to the test. One last heart-pounding lap when Ardigò landed on the leading duo on the last lap, like a hawk on two pigeons. His recovery 5 laps from the finish was unimaginable.
Ardigò was the outgoing world champion, a tough driver who at Le Mans was the toughest of all, and in just 2 laps: 20th and 21st, he recovered half a second.
On the 22nd lap, the last lap, De Conto changes trajectory with the intent of conceding no space to Pex. A prudent attitude that ended up favoring the Dutchman’s overtaking, and at the same time allowed Ardigò to engage. The Tony Kart driver from Brescia thanks his rival and overtakes De Conto first and then drives alongside Pex, but even before the overtake was completed, the Dutchman’s front right tire comes into contact with Ardigò’s left rear. Ardigò slides, Pex slips inside, also favoring the return of De Conto. The Trevigiano driver tries everything, cutting the chicane on the curb, and is alongside Ardigò at the next hairpin.
