MAUREEN LIPMAN ON HER LATEST BOOK
It’s been called ‘a starry safari’, but its creator prefers the name Lipman-agerie. It’s A Jungle Out There is the latest offering from Maureen Lipman; a collection of her own iPad caricatures of famous people, transformed into animals based on their names. So there’s Brad Pitbull; Luseal Ball and Barack Obllama, and so on. It all grew out of her compulsive doodling combined with her well-known weakness for puns. ‘I’ve always been a doodler,’ says seventy year-old Maureen. ‘It used to drive my late husband, Jack, crazy. When I was on the phone, I’d doodle on the diary so much that we couldn’t see what had been written underneath.’
