A report, produced by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), has found that a small glass of wine (or 10g of pure alcohol) a day increases the risk of breast cancer.
The WCRF assessed recent research carried out worldwide, as well as evidence from earlier WCRF reports, and found that drinking as little as 10g of pure alcohol a day increased the risk of premenopausal breast cancer by five per cent and of postmenopausal breast cancer by nine per cent. Experts suggest this would equate to about one extra case of cancer per 100 women.
