US bestselling author James Patterson is launching a new imprint for novella-length books, BookShots, aimed at encouraging those who may be put off by a 400/500-page novel to take up reading. Patterson said: ‘You can race through these – they’re like reading movies.’
BookShots will sell for under $5, be less than 150 pages long and offer a range of genres as well as nonfiction titles. As well as traditional bookstores the titles will be available in supermarkets and drugstores. The imprint, which is part of Little, Brown, aims to release 2-4 titles a month. Patterson will write some of the books himself and handpick the rest.
