Your Dog  |  Your Dog Magazine January 2020
The new year lies ahead with lots of exciting possibilities and things to look forward to.
While many of us will not aspire to the kind of adventure our vet Vicky Payne has recently enjoyed (read her report on her visit to the Falkland Islands on page 22 this issue — it’s fascinating), there are plenty of projects and goals we can set ourselves to help make 2020 a memorable year.
Start by checking out our lead feature ’10 things to do with your dog this year’ (page 12) where you’ll find plenty of food for thought and inspiring ideas.
Then there’s Karen Bush’s article on sleep ‘Let sleeping dogs lie’ (page 16), which could have you rethinking the bedtime routine for your dog, and redesigning his sleeping quarters!
The link-up between animal welfare charity Mayhew and dog food company Lily’s Kitchen, to promote the pairing up of older dog with empty nesters whose children have gone to university or left home, seems like a win-win initiative. Find out more about the project on page 28.
And don’t miss the story of Weimaraner Grace, whose life was saved following a blood transfusion from Pet Blood Bank UK. Blood donation sessions, involving pet dogs just like ours, are held across the country. Donors must register and fulfil certain criteria to give blood.
For full details, and to read Grace’s story, turn to page 38.
We wish you all a very happy new year.
