We began this project by sourcing decorative cast concrete wall bricks from a skip, which we knew would make perfect bench supports. They were in good shape, and just needed a good clean and paint. The top of the bench is made from pieces of tanalised timber, which is suitable for outdoor use. We painted the seat with exterior paint and then découpaged each plank with torn strips of floral paper to give a vintage, weathered look. This effect will improve with age and can be re-varnished from time to time if required.
