Thanks to shared ownership, Sian now has a stylish new-build home
For single mum Sian Wiltshire, a veterinary nurse, finding a family home in the right location was crucial in securing a future for herself and her two daughters. She was determined to live in the quaint Wiltshire village of Hilmarton, where she’d grown up, but thought she’d have to carry on renting for the foreseeable future. ‘Apart from a few years in nearby Swindon, I’ve lived here my whole life,’ she says. ‘I really wanted Lauren and Abi to go to the local school and be near my mum – in fact when I first moved back I rented a cottage next door! I hadn’t considered buying, especially in the village, as I didn’t think I could afford to.’
Part rent/part buy schemes such as Chapel Mews tend to get snapped up very quickly
