Garden party
The rhododendron wild garden at Sheringham Park is famous for its beautiful display of blooms and this year the park will be holding a ‘Rhodie party’ so visitors can take in the breathtaking flowers in style. Tom Upcher, the last owner of the estate before it was given to the National Trust in the 1980s, began throwing Champagne parties in the 1950s where guests would dress up in evening wear and wellies to admire the rhododendrons, while feasting and drinking. If this sounds like your idea of a perfect spring evening, make a visit to the park on Saturday 14th May from 6.30pm and bring along a picnic to eat while you soak up the views and listen to live music. Entry is free and there’s even a bar, so don your Fifties finery and go along! Find out more at www.museumsatnight.org.uk.
