Welcome

Photo Lizzie Orme

With plenty of bank holidays coming our way over the next few weeks, I know many of you will be making the most of the long weekends to tackle those DIY, decorating and gardening jobs you’ve been putting off.

To fill you with inspiration, we’ve packed this special magazine with loads of practical advice, inspiring ideas and simple to follow step-by-steps. No matter whether you have just an hour to spare, or want to totally transform a room over a couple of days, we’ve got it covered. From walls to floors, and everything in between, you’ll find plenty of quick and easy projects to make your home look and feel like new (p.3). Plus upcycling expert, Max McMurdo, has three sensational projects which turn junk into stunning pieces of furniture (p.16). If your garden or patio is looking a bit lacklustre at the moment and you want to make it look lovely for the summer months ahead, then you’ll love our brilliant ideas on pages 23 and 26. From creating a stylish outdoor coffee table, to turning an old pallet into a green wall full of edible plants, our projects are not only easy to do, but they’re kind on your purse too. Talking of being kind, check out our herb planter idea on page 27, its small size makes it ideal for those without a garden and it cleverly incorporates a birdbox and a bug hotel, so it’s perfect for giving nature a home at the same time. If you haven’t noticed, houseplants are really trendy again, so find out how to make a low-maintenance terrarium on page 20.
