BATHROOM MAKEOVER
The double-ended bath ensures extra comfort with the taps positioned centrally
Kate Hatherell and her husband Andrew were getting frustrated with their old, badly organised bathroom. The Hatherell family moved into their three-bedroom house, in Somerset, four years ago, and after decorating the kitchen, they were now ready to combat the bathroom. ‘It just wasn’t working as a family bathroom and it desperately needed some TLC,’ Kate explains. The shower attachment in the bath had started leaking and the odd shape in the room restricted the space, preventing them from having a walk-in shower. ‘A separate shower had been on my wish list ever since we moved in. I’d been trying to find a way to fit one in, without much luck,’ she says. Kate’s two children, Freya, 10, and Jacob, six, were getting bigger and they needed a more efficient bathroom that was in full working order. The only way they could achieve their dream bathroom was to open up the room, taking a corner from the bedroom next door. ‘Freya’s bedroom had a shower cubicle which she didn’t ever use, and it took valuable space from the bathroom, so we decided to claim it back.’
