As the El Nino phenomenon ravages the country, this farming season has been tough for dry-land farmers; particularly in getting their fields planted and established in good time. Some areas received reasonable early rains in November, but many a farmer failed to get good crop stands and many ended up re-planting once, twice or thrice. So, is there anything we can do to overcome dry spells, or do we just trust in luck in the future as now? The answer could lie in one of the articles in this edition.
