Australian Railway History  |  ARH October 2015
The October issue of ARH features Les Morley's memories of growing up with trains on Tasmania's West Coast, covering the Emu Bay Railway, the TGR line from Zeehan to Strahan and the Mount Lyell Railway to Queenstown. It is backed with outstanding images from the era.
Part 2 of Ross Willson's article on the Bexley steam tramway covers the competition from private buses and closure of the line at the end of 1926. Again we have some great images to illustrate the story.
The issue rounds-off with Part 1 of Ron Webb's account of firing and driving the former South Maitland Railways' tank locomotive No. 18 on the 'Cockatoo Run' between Unanderra and Moss Vale in the 1990s.
