Australian Railway History  |  Sep-14
The September 2014 issue of ARH features Wayne Dempsey's story of his years as a carriage builder at the NSWGR Carriage Workshops located in the vast railway industrial complex at Eveleigh in Sydney. Wayne's focus is the refurbishment of wooden carriages, particularly the American suburban cars.
It also presents Part 1 of 'Paper Railways in Victoria' by Jeff Stocco. This article covers railways approved by the Government that never made it to the construction phase and is profusely illustrated with maps of proposed routes. John Evans rounds off the features with comments on the article in the August issue on The Ghan train between Port Augusta and Alice Springs in the narrow gauge era.
