MY WEEK IN CARS

As Ford shovels a cool €4.4 billion (£3.7bn) into its German division to offset its hideous European unprofitability, I wonder how the bosses who killed the Fiesta are feeling right now. Safely retired or fired, I suppose. It’s not often that a big, canny car manufacturer like the Blue Oval blunders into dropping a market-topper that could have continued for two or even three years. In fact, this must be one of Ford’s top 10 cock-ups in 122 years. Come on, Henry! You were our automotive leader! You used to be so good at seeing the future! Give us a sign that you know what you’re doing.
