NEW ASTON LAGONDA: THE ASTON FROM OUTER SPACE
Aston Martin is relaunching the one hundred and fourteen year old Lagonda brand as a stand-alone maker of futuristic, high-tech luxury cars to directly rival Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The famous name, which returned at the Geneva motor show on the Lagonda Vision Concept, will be used on at least two production cars from 2021. The first will be a Rolls-Royce Phantom-rivalling luxury saloon inspired by the four-door, four-seat Vision Concept. But whereas Rolls-Royce and Bentley are traditional in their approach to luxury, Lagonda will position itself as the futuristic alternative to buyers who want to reject old-world luxury. It aims to be the first luxury car maker to truly embrace modern technology and the efficiency of electric car design, creating more cabin space and mixing that with a near-silent zeroemission drivetrain.

It's nice to see a long running magazine continue in this climate

I have been a reader on and off for many a year, and I'm pleased that titles like this continue. If I'm super critical, it's getting quite thin some weeks and the sheer number of Jaguar and Land Rover scoop stories are tiresome. What about the other brands?

Quality photos and writing make up for it though.

The size of the vehicles shown in a virtual garage 2.4m wide is excellent in showing how sub standard garages in the past, some currently are. Braking statistics also show braking efficiencies are much better than the Highway Code distances. Highway Design standards may have to be updated? Reviewed 29 April 2020
