Floating heads on trading cards, a staple of early 1960s baseball sets, are now on basketball cards, thanks to the work of the Panini Basketball Product Development Team.
Panini’s Director of Basketball David Porter said the company’s development team was looking for something diff erent for insertion in 2018-19 Panini Spectra.
“It’s just something fun that the basketball team liked,” Porter said. “We had a few people in design that looked at us like we were crazy, but they got the look right. They just didn’t realize the history [of the floating heads].”
