BILLY PICKLES crowned his debut headline status with a convincing sixround points victory over Wigston’s Michael Williams. With the usual billtopper Jack Bateson part of next month’s Josh Warrington-Kid Galahad show, Leeds’ Pickles took centre stage of this Bateson Promotions card and was eager to impress the crowd, landing plenty to the body in a fast opening round. Williams was tucking up on the ropes for the next couple of rounds as Pickles continued to set a high workrate, with fast combinations to boot. He couldn’t maintain that pace until the finish, but still claimed a 60-54 decision from Howard Foster.
