Work has started on Birmingham Airport’s new security screening area. The upgraded space, which will be located within the existing terminal, forms part of a £20m project. The deadline for the completion of the works is June 1, 2024, the date by which the UK Government requires all airports to be compliant with new standards. The new security area will be able to accommodate up to 18 million passengers a year.
Cyprus Airways is due to launch yearround, scheduled rotations to Paris/ Charles De Gaulle and Rome/Fiumicino from Larnaca. Links to the French capital – Flights CY 380/381 – are due to start from December 16 on a thriceweekly frequency. Meanwhile, Rome is poised to follow on December 20, with CY 340/341 flying twice-weekly. Cyprus Airways currently fields an all-Airbus contingent, comprising a pair of A320ceos. According to the carrier, a further two A320 jets are due to join the fleet in early 2023.
