GET YOUR SOIL RIGHT
Many plants can be fairly forgiving, but one thing they do demand is the right
growing conditions, and your soil’s pH – the measurement of how acid or alkaline it is – plays a key role in determining just what you can cultivate. Soil pH is measured on a scale from 0 to 14, with a measurement of 7 indicating
a neutral soil; anything lower is acid, while anything above is alkaline. Acid, neutral or alkaline? not all earth is created equal and the type of soil you have will help determine the plants you grow, says Louise Curley.
