In emergency and preparedness planning, so much of what we think and do is based on best guesses or assumptions that what we’re doing is the right choice for protecting and fulfilling our goals for a safe, comfortable and satisfying life.
Our actions are, or should be, based primarily on probabilities (What is most likely to go wrong?) and having the necessities, mixed in with possibilities (Could a given threat scenario happen here or to me?), accompanied by some “nice-to-haves.” Most of us have enough challenges dealing with the probabilities, let alone trying to be prepared for the wider range of what’s possible too.
