In the stress and confusion of a survival situation, the need f or shelter is sometimes an afterthought. If you are put into a survival situation, there is a v ery good chance that you will have to be concerned with more than just yourself. Perhaps you are hunkering down or traveling with your family and a family pet or two. You have to take their welfare into consideration with every decision you make. This is why shelter is something you simply cannot ignore, especially in the c older times of the y ear. You may be able to get away without a shel ter for a couple of days during the summer, but even a couple of hours without shel ter in the dead of winter could be deadly.
