Accidents happen all the time, but the worst possible time for an accident is during an emergency. Not only does it add insult to injury (almost literally), but it creates a whole series of problems that compound the original catastrophe you’re already battling. Who wants to deal with an infected laceration when you’re in the middle of a protracted breakdown of society? Nobody, that’s who. As well, getting the flu, a cold, and even a headache from lack of water can have a serious effect on how you manage your situation.
