A CLOCKS dealer who was arrested last month for offering to sell a bronze mounted ivory thermometer (ATG No 2281) has resolved the incident with police via a community resolution which enforced the seizure of the item.
Russ Allen was arrested and bailed following a visit by 10 officers after a member of the public alerted Derbyshire police to the ivory item on sale online.
Last week Allen, who was represented by solicitor Bill Soughton at Johnson Partnership in Nottingham, was interviewed at Chesterfield Police Station by a local police officer and an officer from the Wildlife Crime Unit. The thermometer was deemed insufficiently worked under the amended 2013 CITES guidelines.
