A Chinese Kangxi period triple gourd vase that once belonged to the financier JP Morgan will feature as one of the highlights in Heritage Auctions’ inaugural Asian Art sale in Dallas on April 2.
The 3ft 4in (1m) high vase, left, which is of twopiece construction and decorated with dragons and chrysanthemums, has Morgan collection labels to the underside and neck interior. Subsequent owners were the Duveen brothers and the Norton Simon Foundation and it appeared at Parke-Bernet Galleries in 1971, after which it passed to a private collection.
