Crane Kalman’s upcoming exhibition Jethro Buck – Axis Mundi features recent work by a contemporary artist interested in Indian miniature painting.
Buck uses traditional techniques and handground natural pigments in his paintings. “To paint in this way you have to slow down. You lose yourself in the painting – and time is directly linked to your experience of it,” he says.
Jethro Buck’s What’s going on here (2016) is completed in natural pigment and gum Arabic on Sanganer paper and measures 18 x 16in (40 x 29cm).
