From Medieval Revelry to 17th Century Romance – Objects to Inspire is the title of Hansons’ June 1 sale in Etwall, Derbyshire. The auction will include all manner of ‘everyday objects’, from medieval stone carvings and oak furniture to 18th and 19th century pewter drinking vessels.
This Staffordshire slipware dished bowl, discovered on a valuation day in Wilmslow, is estimated at £1500-1800. Dated to c.1720, the 17in (43cm) wide dish is decorated with a geometric mirrored linear design in trailing slip on a chocolate glaze ground.
