A c.1450 diamond-point spoon – £11,000 at Woolley & Wallis.
Largely based on three private collections – and helped by the strength of the collectables market – the spring sale of silver and boxes was the best yet for Salisbury auctioneers Woolley & Wallis (22% buyer’s premium).
Best seller in the April 25-26 sale was the £36,000 London 1851 centrepiece bought by the Rijksmuseum which was illustrated in ATG No 2291.
